8 Weeks Before Moving:

6 Weeks Before Moving:

  • Start packing non-essential items, labeling boxes by room.

4 Weeks Before Moving:

  • Notify your utility companies about your move and schedule disconnections for the day after you leave.
  • Inform your post office of your change of address.
  • Complete a change of address form online or at your local post office.
  • Research new healthcare providers if you’re moving to a different area.
  • Gather important documents such as medical records, school transcripts, and legal paperwork.

3 Weeks Before Moving:

  • Confirm your moving date and details with your chosen moving company.
  • Continue packing, labeling boxes with contents and their intended room.
  • Create an inventory list of valuable items and their condition for insurance purposes.
  • Plan meals to use up perishable food items in your fridge and pantry.

2 Weeks Before Moving:

  • Notify important parties of your change of address, including banks, credit card companies, and subscriptions.
  • Finish packing non-essential items, leaving only daily essentials for the final week.
  • Pack a separate “Essentials Box” with items you’ll need right away in your new home.

1 Week Before Moving:

Moving Day:

After Moving:

  • Update your driver’s license, voter registration, and vehicle registration if necessary.
  • Explore your new neighborhood and locate important places like grocery stores, pharmacies, and hospitals.
  • Dispose of packing materials responsibly or store them for future use.
