Connecticut Real Estate is strategically expanding with the launch of our multistate Relocation Division—a growth initiative designed to connect buyers, sellers, and investors with top-tier real estate talent across the 13 states that currently offer full reciprocity with Connecticut real estate brokers. This expansion allows us to leverage decades of relocation expertise, streamline interstate moves, and build an interconnected network of premier real estate professionals who can support clients wherever life or business takes them.

Our relocation model is built on the foundation established by Steve Schappert, The Connecticut Real Estate Broker. Steve successfully ran a relocation business for more than a decade, assisting as many as 550 clients per month during peak seasons. His company, Buyers Trust, gained national recognition, including an interview with Woman’s Day Magazine, which later recommended Buyers Trust to readers around the world as a trusted resource for purchasing property. That same spirit of service, transparency, and expertise is now powering the newest phase of our expansion.

Connecticut currently has reciprocity with the following states: ALABAMA, COLORADO, FLORIDA, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, MASSACHUSETTS, MISSISSIPPI, NEBRASKA, NEW YORK, OHIO, OKLAHOMA, and RHODE ISLAND. This reciprocity allows us to accelerate our ability to serve clients across state lines, provide seamless transitions, and recruit exceptional agents who can confidently represent our brand in each region.

Our recruitment initiative focuses on partnering with proven, highly motivated real estate professionals who understand the value of cross-state collaboration. As demand for relocation services continues to climb—driven by changing job markets, remote work acceptance, lifestyle changes, and economic shifts—clients need a service model that goes beyond traditional brokerage. By recruiting elite agents in each of the 13 reciprocal states, we are creating a unified referral and relocation network where every professional is held to the same high standards of communication, skill, and ethical practice. Once each market reaches stability with its relocation partners, Connecticut Real Estate will then proceed with opening full brokerages in those states. This phased approach ensures that our expansion is built on strong relationships, proven demand, and localized market expertise.

Our development timeline demonstrates both ambition and adaptability. The plan is to open Massachusetts and Rhode Island in 2021, followed by Florida around the new year. Although we originally expected to expand into Florida in 2020, the global pandemic created sudden shifts in travel, health regulations, and real estate operations. Like any strong business, we pivoted quickly—maintaining momentum while adjusting our approach to match the realities of the times. That ability to adapt is part of what makes us uniquely positioned for nationwide expansion today.

The relocation division will be an essential part of our long-term vision, connecting families, professionals, and investors with a network of specialists who can handle every detail of a move—from property searches and negotiations to area orientation, market insights, and long-term investment planning.
