This strategic move allows us to service clients in all 13 states that currently offer reciprocity with Connecticut real estate brokers. Our relocation division is led by Steve Schappert, a respected industry professional with extensive experience in multi-state real estate coordination, homebuyer representation, and large-scale relocation systems. Steve previously ran a relocation business for 10 years, during which he assisted as many as 550 people per month. His unique approach to buyer advocacy, transparency, and customer service drew the attention of national media—Woman’s Day Magazine interviewed him and subsequently recommended Buyers Trust to readers across the globe. This level of recognition helped establish a reputation for reliability, innovation, and exceptional service.
Today, Connecticut Real Estate is carrying that same legacy forward. Our reciprocity agreements allow our team to seamlessly support clients relocating between Connecticut and the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Rhode Island. Because reciprocity enables streamlined licensing, we can support relocations more efficiently and with greater continuity, ensuring that clients receive the same high standard of care no matter where they move.

To support our rapid expansion, we will be recruiting top-performing real estate agents in each of the 13 reciprocity states. Our goal is to establish a trusted, high-caliber network of professionals who exemplify excellence in market knowledge, negotiation, customer communication, and ethical representation. These agents will work directly with our relocation clients, ensuring they are matched with the right professionals who understand both the local market and the needs of incoming residents.
As our network strengthens, Connecticut Real Estate will begin opening brokerage offices in each state, creating a unified, interconnected real estate organization with national reach and local expertise. Our long-term vision is not only to serve relocation clients but to establish thriving offices, introduce advanced training programs, and create opportunities for agents to grow their careers in a supportive, innovative environment.
Florida: A Key Market for Expansion
Among the states we serve, Florida is one of the most significant. Florida consistently ranks as one of the top states for inbound relocation due to its warm climate, affordable living options, strong job market, and favorable tax environment. Connecticut residents in particular often choose Florida for retirement, second homes, investment properties, or lifestyle changes. For this reason, Florida has always been a priority location for our expansion.
Our original plan was to launch our Florida brokerage in 2020. However, the global pandemic shifted timelines—not our vision. Like many businesses, we adapted and delayed certain milestones to ensure long-term sustainability and safety. We took the time to refine our relocation systems, strengthen partnerships, and prepare for a more strategic launch.
Today, we are pleased to announce that Florida remains firmly at the top of our expansion plan. We anticipate opening our Florida operations around the start of the new year, after successfully launching Massachusetts and Rhode Island in 2021. This sequence supports our broader goal of establishing a strong East Coast foundation before expanding throughout the remaining reciprocal states.
