13 Timeless Leadership Principles Written Like Never Before

1. Help yourself by helping others: Leaders look for ways to help others, followers ask, “What’s in it for me?” Passion, compassion, and goodwill are viral in a very good way. You won’t find long term success at the shallow end of the pool, go deep and go big! People, places and moments make life worth living. Life is a journey, a collection of moments and giving.

2. You must plan to progress: Driving aimlessly on a weekend is a great way to unwind and discover. In business, there is a time for discovery and there is a time for planning. The plan should be laser focused when presented in full yet confusing when your competition looks at a piece. Appear strong when you are weak and weak when you are strong. The art of war is to win without fighting.

3. You will struggle to become a leader: Life will hit you harder than anyone you meet. Leaders take the punch and get back up. You will be told you can’t and if you listen you won’t. I learned to win by not losing, it’s not an easy path or life worth choosing. I’m like the boxer that wears the other guy down with his face remember slow and steady wins the race.

4. Nothing worth having comes easy: The road to success is paved by failure. The road you travel will be blocked by physical pain, heartache, and financial setbacks. You will either rise to the occasion and overcome or spend the rest of your life wondering, what if. Life is like a country road, many twists and turns unless you’re a crow. Be thankful for the scenic byways along your path, when in need just ask and you will know.

5. Repetition becomes a habit: Cutting corners becomes habit forming which becomes character forming. Doing things, the right way to create long term solutions becomes habit forming which becomes character forming. Your character is the one thing in life you should never settle on. Do the right thing, do it well and form healthy, respectable habits.

6. Positive or negative is a matter of choice: Attitude is everything. No matter how cliché it sounds, keep reminding yourself. Your life becomes what you think about most. Your brain does not know the difference between truth and fiction—it will create a new reality based on your input. A day is good or bad by your choice, don’t forget you have a voice.

7. You can only control your attitude: Try as you might, you can’t control what goes on around you. You can control how you react to it. Become a master of change and how you react to it and you will master your life.

8. You can’t change others, you can only change how they affect you: Mick Jagger said, “Truth is stranger than fiction.” Humanity is not always a beacon of light. As a real estate agent, customers are always looking at homes and asking, “why would somebody”. My response is always the same. “It doesn’t matter, how does it make you feel and what are you going to do about it.” Be the beacon of positivity.

9. Getting lost in the dark can shed new light: I guarantee you will learn much from your mistakes. Get over your obsession to always be right, being wrong can open doors you never would have entered and shine new light on solutions. Nobody is right all the time, how you embrace being wrong will endear those around you. Grace & humility are attractive leadership skills.

10. Don’t spend time, invest it: Our memories are but moments, just moments in time, hold them dear and life is sublime. Time is all we have on this earth and our most valuable and fragile resource. Use it wisely.

11. Dedication & determination win the day: Feed the brain and let the inspiration fall down like rain. Don’t let someone tell you, you can’t do anything. Let the motivation carry you forward and ask yourself, “What will I bring?” from the highest mountain and tallest tree reach for the stars and keep it real. Pain is temporary can you bear it? Can you find the courage and share it? You were meant to do more than this and you won’t get there without practice. So get off your ass and take a step toward the head of the class. If you can’t see who you want to be you’ll be lost forever, never finding your personal treasure. Inside you’ll find the inspiration to lead your team or a nation.

12. You are the reason for your success: When the world knocks you down, get up off the ground don’t be afraid to care, swear or share. Say what’s on your mind and always be kind there are many choices to make and you’re bound to make a mistake so just be true and do what you do.

13. LEAD FROM WITHIN: Set the example and don’t be afraid to go deep. It is like an empty bowl you try to fill it but there seems to be a hole. Bottomless and fathomless never ending when you fall it just might be the beginning of it all. It will round the edges and simplify complication bringing harmony and light unifying the world into one nation. It’s been hidden away from the very first day where it came from no one knows, a guiding light is all that shows. Work together we must to build faith and trust if you want the answer don’t know where to begin just ask yourself and look within.
