One thing you will notice when you come to Madison this summer is they have kept their true charm and character through restrictive zoning laws. From our house, you can’t even see the road. There is a complete absence of commercial buildings east and west of the town village on the single lane Old Boston Post Road. As you walk on either side of town you will see scenic marshes, notable natural features, historic homes and buildings with cultural significance. The village even has a 15 mile an hour speed limit. In fact it is one of the only towns on Boston Post Road that has residential zoning only on the road. Additional regulations were put in place. Old Boston post road through Madison for 2.3 miles from Neck Road on the west side of the village all the way to our street, Lovers lane was designated a “scenic road” via Public Act 87-280. We have rented for 15 years and people always comment on the privacy and convenient location because you can walk both to town and the private beaches.
